Beatles piano sells for almost $100,000 at auction 🆕
The East St. Tammany Habitat for Humanity’s Veterans Build Program raised $98,888 on Friday by auctioning off a hand painted piano signed by Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. Originally purchased for $100, it was restored, custom painted with a Beatles theme, and then trucked around to their gigs for the Beatles autographs.

Paul and Linda McCartney’s love story in the form of song 🆕

On April 17, 1998, Paul McCartney’s first wife, Linda McCartney, lost her battle with breast cancer at the young age of 56. Interview: Dave Grohl on vinyl and Record Store Day

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl is this year’s ambassador to Record Store Day, which will see 400 new and limited-edition releases go on sale, including the re-release of Paul McCartney’s soundtrack album “The Family Way.” Grohl said, “I have albums from the last 40 years of my life. I still have the first record I ever bought.”

Fisheries say Paul McCartney misleading public on seal hunt 🆕

 

As Paul McCartney calls again for an end to Canada’s East Coast commercial seal hunt, Fisheries Minister Gail Shea said on Tuesday, “We continue to tell the truth about sealing, and the effects of seal populations on our marine ecosystems, to combat misleading attacks on the hunt from radical animal rights activists.”

Paul McCartney is calling again for an end to Canada’s East Coast commercial seal hunt, roiling supporters who say it’s a humane source of cash for struggling outports. McCartney appeals for a stop to what he calls a “senseless slaughter” in a statement released Tuesday by Humane Society International.

Paul McCartney set for VE Day concert in London 🆕
Paul McCartney, Elton John, and Rod Stewart will headline a special concert celebrating the 70th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, aka VE Day. The special concert will be 1940s-themed and it will commemorate the end of the Second World War in 1945. It will be held at London’s Horse Guards Parade on May 9.

Paul McCartney has revealed his wife Nancy Shevell isn’t a fan of his latest track with Kanye West because of his excessive use of offensive language, which she was unaware was still used. He said, “I think he mentions the N-word about 40 times. It really shocked Nancy because she’d been to school with a lot of black kids.”

Paul McCartney to release new single with Ed Sheeran and Jamie Oliver
Paul McCartney latest new musical collaborators are Ed Sheeran and Jamie Oliver. McCartney is believed to have recorded the bass line and backing vocals for the new track, which is being released to promote Food Revolution Day, aimed at educating children about food. TV chef Jamie co-wrote song with Ed, to be released in May.

A rare postcard sent by Paul McCartney has been sold for almost £1,000 (about $1,400) at auction. The message read, “With love from the ‘four Macs’. Now on tour in Scotland.” McCartney sent it from his Kintyre farmhouse to his housekeeper Rose. Auction organizers had valued it at between £250 and £350 ($520).

Paul McCartney announced this morning that he will headline this year’s Lollapalooza music festival at Grant Park in Chicago. The appearance, set to take place on Friday July 31, will mark Paul’s first visit to the festival. Lollapalooza 3-day general admission passes sold out yesterday within an hour of going on sale.

Paul McCartney finally returns to Japan with his “Out There” tour, as he announced today a special one off show at the Nippon Budokan on Tuesday April 28. The special show was originally planned for last year but for reasons beyond his control, Paul was forced to cancel his Japanese tour dates. Ticket presale starts this Saturday.

Paul McCartney Receives French Legion of Honor Award in Paris

Paul McCartney received France’s Legion of Honor award on Saturday at a private ceremony at Paris’ Elysee Palace. The Beatles legend was presented with the prize by French President Francois Hollande, who raised McCartney to an Officer in the Legion in acknowledgement of his career musical contributions.
In recognition of the honor, McCartney received a special medal that Hollande pinned on his jacket. According to The Telegraph, the French president quipped during the ceremony that he preferred The Beatles to The Rolling Stones. A number of McCartney’s friends and family members attended the event.
The Legion of Honor is the highest civilian award presented in France. Very few British citizens have been recipients of the honor.

La cerimonia si e’ svolta all’Eliseo alla presenza della famiglia dell’artista. McCartney, nato a Liverpool, aveva ricevuto nel 1996 il titolo di baronetto dalla regina di Inghilterra. La Legione d’Onore e’ stata ricevuta da molti artisti e personalita’ del mondo dello spettacolo come Liza Minnelli e Clint Eastwood. Tra gli italiani che hanno ricevuto l’onorificenza ci sono Umberto Eco, Claudia Cardinale ed Ennio Moricone .
